SWIMWEEK MIAMI A SNARKY RECAP
Miami doesn’t really celebrate Christmas. You would think that the store windows on Lincoln Road would be decorated like in New York City with tons of people traveling just to see the holiday decorations. NOPE! Christmas comes to Miami in July in the form of Mercedes Benz Swim Week. Swimweek festivities kicked off at BAMBOO with an event called Doggies and Divas, a fundraiser for Miami Humane Society. This was a very fun event with doggie models. ADORABLE?? Speaking of adorable I met up with the hottest chiropractor in all of South Florida, Richard Samperisi.

Me with the very HOT fellow LONG ISLANDER who calls SoBe his home, Dr. Richard Samperisi. Need and adjustment? He’s your guy.
SWIMWEEK could be NOT complete without being asked to model in a swimwear show for Miinto.com called “Ready Set Swim”. Granted, I wasn’t at the big ass tent at the Raleigh ( I WISH) but I still got to have some fun at EMENA SPA walking around in some hot looks.

Me just seconds before taking to the catwalk. Proudly the oldest woman at 41, to walk in any swimweek event. BOOM!
I was also invited to a Bloggers Night Out event at the Betsey Hotel rooftop. It was fun! HOT but fun. I caught up with other bloggers including Erika Thomas and Kelly Saks. Those two lovelies are always fun to see out and about.

Me with the lovely miss Erika Thomas. Fellow blogger whose fashionista skillz led her to wear a skirt as a top. NICE!

Flashing my stems at the Schick Quattro cabana at the Bloggers Night Out SwimWeek event. Smooth and sexxy legs are essential in Miami.
Being that I’m a blogger I decided that I wanted to cover the action at the tent. I sent a note to a brand that I am a HUGE fan of, Make Up For Ever. They were the official make-up for the entire event. They have their Aqua Eyes pencil and I swear if you live in a warm climate and want to look hot on a yacht, pool or beach THIS is the eyeliner to score. It’s waterproof and sweat-proof and it stays put. It goes on smooth and it comes in so many colors your head will spin. http://www.makeupforeverusa.com/mufe

Make Up Forever was the official make up brand for the entire show. Their Aqua Eyes waterproof liners are AMAZING and a MUST for sultry Miami.
The kind people at Make Up For Ever granted me back stage access to cover a few of the shows. The action backstage is amazing. Seeing these makeup artists transform these models into pretty girls with blessed bone structure to a MODEL with a very specific look supporting a designers vision of their line is amazing to see.
Make Up For Ever is sold at Sephora. They had a cabana at the Raleigh Hotel where I got to get my eyes done by a make-up artist. I also got to keep my own Aqua Eyes eye liner. Here are a few links of where to find this amazing eye liner. I highly recommend them. I swoosh on some of the metallic shade with some waterproof mascara and some SPF lip tint and I have my fresh faced sexy beach look. I don’t look overly made up but just a hint of color to make my eyes pop poolside.

Getting my eyes made up by a Make Up For Ever make up artist who has been doing make up since she was 7 years old.

Me rocking my NEW! Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes liner which stayed put all day even through ocean swimming.
While covering swim week and hanging with the totally cool Make Up For Ever make-up artists I bounced back and forth from the cabanas at the Raleigh to the main tent. The very cool PR people of TARA INK also got me access to shows and events.
The shows were amazing. The models are BOMBSHELLS! While backstage I was stopped in my tracks when I saw a lovely girl sitting in a make-up chair texting. I introduced myself and learned that she was Puerto Rican like me. We had the same coloring. She was young enough to be my daughter (if I had her at like 21).

This lovely model looked like she can be my family. This was her first show on the mainland. She’s been a model in Puerto Rico for 2 years.

Me with two lovely models representing “La Isla” Puerto Rico, from left age 21 Xiomara Velez, me, 41 Lisa Takes Miami lol and 19 Keyshla Maisonet.

Keshla waits her turn before taking to the runway. Super sweet lovely girl. Just 19. Awwh to be 19 again…
Another model who was dominating the shows was the 6’1” Thais. Strip her of the make-up and bombshell hair and she’s an adorably bubbly kid. She is incredibly tall and has no problem taking pics with smaller people who marvel at her tallness. It’s like a little kid meeting a pro basketball player.

Me and Thais the super tall model who walked in what seemed like every show. She’s awesome and a great sport about taking photos with “the little people.”

Here’s Thais rocking out the runway in the Luli Fama show. She’s fierce and a totally different person on the runway.
THE BRANDS!!
HAWAIIAN TROPIC is a brand I have been loyal to since I was 13. I am a huge fan of the brand. I connected with PR people from Golin Harris who had a TON of activity going on. One of the models at the Mara Hoffman show put the new Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration lotion which smells amazing and feels great on the skin. I scored both a sample and full sized bottle. The stuff is great. People compliment my skin all the time and marvel at my coloring. I don’t believe in tanning beds. I believe in sunshine and when in the sunshine SPF is key. Click here to check out more details on this new line from Hawaiian Tropic. http://www.hawaiiantropic.com/NewProducts.asp

I have been using Hawaiian Tropic since I was 13. The body has filled out since then but the tan is ALWAYS good and skin always dewy and glowing.

Model gets her glow on with this creamy new sunscreen by Hawaiian Tropic designed to hydrate the skin.

This little Hula Girl LOVES Hawaiian Tropic. If the brand needs me to dress up for events I totally can pull it off.
Another brand I got to show some love to is Arizona Iced Tea. They are celebrating their 20 year anniversary which makes me feel nostalgic and old because I remember when Arizona Iced Tea came out. I was 21 and at Rutgers University. There was Snapple and then Arizona. That was the cool thing to drink.
Now anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE HUGE fan of Luli Fama Bikinis. They are made here in Miami and are always featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Luli Fama are one of the few pioneers of the Scrunch Butt bottom, the most flattering bottom of a bikini EVER. It makes your butt look sexy.
While at this show I connected backstage with ZOYA, the eco friendly line of polish that doesn’t have harmful chemicals. Nail Bar and Beauty Lounge in midtown uses this polish and offer the best mani pedis in Miami. Tell them Lisa Takes Miami sent you. The ZOYA lady Erin, was a total doll. Midwestern people are so nice and friendly. We chatted and she invited me to join their media sample list so I can sample any color at any time. I’m psyched! I’ve been doing my own nails since I was 11. A mani pedi is a treat and I’m really picky about who does them. So now I’ll be able to promote ZOYA.

ZOYA Nail Polishes are eco friendly and don’t have harmful chemicals. The colors go on perfectly and they last!! Stay tuned for “My Mani Pedi” where I show off a new nail color.
SOHO HOUSE hosted a fashion show for CHLOE. I gotta say, I’m not a fan of the clothes, not my style. But WHOA the accessories were fantastic. The models were great and the overall look and feel of the show was amazing. What was even more entertaining was the people watching. There’s a population of people in Miami who consider themselves elite. Not sure why, but they do. They come out in Magazines like Miami and Ocean Drive (I have too so who cares?) and have an air about them that begs for a good ole New York ass kicking. Needless to say these are the people who were at this event. They all wore Chloe and paraded around as if to say look at me in my $500 Chloe dress. Who cares ya look like crap and look at me in my $13.00 caftan wrap from H&M. SUCK IT Snobbaista!

At SOHO HOUSE enjoying a cold Moet Imperial Ice. Champagne served over ice. Perfect for hot sultry Miami nights.

Sophisticated sure but the crowd was way too snobby. Chloe put on a fantastic show at SoHo Beach House a member’s only beach club. (Which I have been to several times.)
In the end SWIM WEEK 2012 was like Christmas in July. The parties, the shows, the energy, the high intensity sexy…this is what Miami is all about and I for one, LOVE IT! I end with some more photo highlights. Enjoy!
